Cinema Slumber Party's Inaugural Screening - ERRORS OF THE HUMAN BODY

On Saturday, June 15, Cinema Slumber Party is debuting its first season of midnight movies at the Somerville Theatre. The inaugural film is Errors of the Human Body (2012), a film that explores the fragile and frightening world of genetic research.

When a potentially lethal virus is created within his new lab, Dr Geoff Burton is shocked to discover he is not only the unwitting cause, but also its first victim.

Michael Eklund (The Divide, The 4400) stars as Dr. Geoff Burton, a brilliant genetic researcher invited to Dresden to work alongside top scientists. Through a series of misfortunes, a lethal virus is unintentionally created in the lab, and Burton may be its first victim. Director Eron Sheean – channeling the early work of Cronenberg – has created a stark and emotional look at the horrifying results of breakdown in communication, both internally and externally. Not a "body-horror" film per se, Sheean developed the story working as an artist-in-residence in Dresden for six years, and provides a balanced look at the dynamics of a scientific community where researchers are haunted by their own neuroses. Their inability to exist harmoniously results in world-shattering consequences for humanity.

We're thrilled to bring this acclaimed film to the Boston area and hope you'll join us.

Join us on Saturday, June 15 // Midnight at the Somerville Theatre
